Oligopeptide-10 (oligopeptide-10) – is an antimicrobial peptide used to treat acne symptoms.Oligopeptide-10 has a broad spectrum of activity against many types of organisms. Oligopeptide 10 is a short bioactive peptide consisting of 15 natural peptides providing amino acids with antimicrobial activity against acne bacterium.

Oligopeptide-10 is potent against P. acnes, causing rapid cell death. It binds to negatively charged surface elements (lipoproteins) of bacteria that can approach the osmotic imbalance inside the bacteria leading to a lethal plasma membrane. Due to this unique mechanism of action bacteria have very low resistance and the possibility of resistance to other antibiotics remains susceptible to oligopeptides 10 . Plus, it neutralizes pro-inflammatory ingredients to reduce redness.

Oligopeptide 10 in combination with 0.5% salicylic acid 0.5% was shown to reduce acne, irritation, pustules and pimples by 40% after 28 days compared to the leading benzoyl peroxide brand.
